Getting Up Off the Floor as a Predictor of Health

If you're between 50-80, or younger for that matter, can you get up off of the floor with using one hand or less?

This particular study followed individuals from the ages of 51-80. There were over 2000 and they were  assessed whether or not they could get up off of the floor with little to no aide. After measuring their performance the study participants were followed for several years. The ones who passed away during the follow up period were more likely to have difficulty getting up from the ground without assistance, scoring a 3 or less out of 10.

Getting up off of the floor requires balance, strength, and flexibility, all important things to carry out your daily life. Ask a physical therapist for help with these things if you need assistance with this task!
